Protection and Promotion of Natural Resource Management in the CHT (Phase-2)
Trinamul Unnayan Sangstha (TUS) implemented the Protection and Promotion of Natural Resource Management in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (Phase-2) project from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017, funded by MISEREOR, Germany. The project covered 10 villages at Kobakhali Union in Dighinala Upazila.
Key activities included community capacity enhancement through training on honeybee keeping, soil conservation, watershed management, tree planting, fertilizer and bio-pesticide management, and income-generating activities such as poultry rearing and homestead gardening. The project also emphasized gender development, institutional and staff capacity building, renewable energy promotion, and community-led planning.
In addition, TUS facilitated initiatives to reduce dependency on natural resources by diversifying crops, promoting market-linked production clusters, and developing seed preservation systems. Innovative interventions such as community forests and NRM learning centers were established to sustain long-term ecological and economic balance.
