The CANDL-2 project, implemented by TUS with support from MJF and funding from FCDO, aimed to strengthen resilient livelihoods in Khagrachari Sadar and Panchari Upazilas through agricultural improvement, income generation, and restoration of natural resource management practices. By training communities on agro-forestry, entrepreneurship, and market linkages, and fostering women and youth participation, the project enhanced local capacity for sustainable income and dignified living.

The Pilot Phase of PPNRM marked the beginning of TUS’s journey in promoting sustainable resource management in the CHT. Through strong community engagement, gender inclusion, and the revitalization of traditional knowledge, the project empowered indigenous communities to take ownership of land and natural resources, setting a solid foundation for future NRM initiatives in the region.

The Phase-1 initiative laid the foundation for community-led natural resource management in the CHT by enhancing the technical and organizational capacity of local groups. Through training, agro-forestry practices, and women’s participation, the project strengthened social ownership over land and resources, helping build sustainable livelihoods and environmental resilience in remote hilly villages.
